Two important things we need you to do!
Attend the Meeting
Senn Arts Steering Committee Meeting
Wednesday, April 9
4-5 PM
Senn High School, Room 115
Earlier this year, when CPS Chief Education Officer Chkoumbova announced that Senn Arts is officially a Program of Study, she also announced that a Senn Arts Steering Committee would be formed to oversee the growth of the program.
The first meeting is this Wednesday and we need you to attend!
While our program has been made official, our attempts to secure all 8 classes are ongoing. At a minimum, we're trying to get incoming freshman programmed in 2 art classes, scheduling their CS course for their sophomore year to buy us time to work with CS to develop a curriculum that integrates with our arts programs.

Give Senn Freshmen Two Arts Classes!
Ask CPS to compel Principal Dacres to give Senn Arts freshmen two arts classes!
Help keep Senn Arts going for our future Students
As of today, Principal Dacres has refused to act on a unanimous recommendation by the Senn Local School Council to program all incoming Senn Arts students for the two requisite Arts courses that distinguish the program.
With your help, Senn Arts parents, students, and community members successfully got CPS to make the Senn Arts Program a Program of Study that allows all future Senn Arts students to initiate a waiver for exemption that will allow them to take 7 arts classes instead of the 5 that had been slated in November.
Thank you for your support!
One Victory, more to go!
On December 19, the Principal of Senn High School notified families that all current Senn Arts students from grades 9-12 would be able to experience full arts program as it was presented to them when they chose to enroll at Senn. After weeks of emailing and calling Chicago Public Schools officials, the parents and students working to save Senn High School’s unique Senn Arts program see this as a great victory but not the end goal.

Your Attention, Please!
In November, Principal Dacres suddenly announced major cuts to the Senn Arts program that will reduce the total number of guaranteed classes from 8 to 5.
This cut will significantly impact nearly 20% of the Senn Student body—students who chose Senn High School over any other neighborhood, choice, selective enrollment, or private school in Chicago.
OUR MISSION
We are students, families, caregivers, and community members committed to supporting the vibrant and diverse body at Senn High School so they can get the most from their Arts, IB, and Major Studies education programs.
